FAQS ABOUT FENCING

Most properties have a fence for various reasons. It may be to keep local wildlife out of your yard, keep your dogs in the yard when you let them out, mark your property lines, or for privacy. Fences come in a variety of materials such as wood, vinyl, chain-link, and wrought iron. The variety of the type of fences you can choose from, their different uses, and how to maintain them lead to property owners having many questions. Below are some of the frequently asked questions that we get from our clients and their respective answers.

  • Do fence posts need to be in concrete?

They do not have to be, but we recommend that they are. This is because it keeps them level over time.

  • How long does it take to install a fence?

Most residential fences can be installed in one day.

  • Do vinyl fences break easily?

Not all vinyl fences are created equally. The quality among them can differ. In general, most vinyl fences are not broken easily. They can often withstand the impact of someone bumping into it, be pressure washed, and get hit by balls with no issue.

  • How often do I need to stain my wood fence?

Wood fences are very durable, but they require maintenance to prolong their life and protect it from the elements. Staining your wood fence is a regular part of fence maintenance and it should be done every two to three years.

  • How do you clean vinyl fencing?

Dirt and debris on your vinyl fence can be easily cleaned with a simple spray from your garden hose. For thorough cleanings, you can use a mild detergent and water solution. If there are tough, stubborn stains, you should use baking soda, mild dish soap, and steel wool to get rid of them.

  • What is a privacy fence?

A privacy fence is one with slats or panels that are installed tightly next to one another with no space between them. This keeps others from being able to see onto your property regardless of how close they stand to the fence on the other side.
